Practical, Scripture-grounded teaching on accountability, getting out of debt, biblical stewardship, and managing what God has already placed in your hands.

"Owe no man anything, except to love one another."
"You want to be dependent on God, not people."
"More coming in than going out."

Financial Solutions, Part 3

We have to continue to make progress and thrive toward financial success.

1. Accountability

Romans 13:8 (KJV)"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."

  • We want to make sure we are accountable when it comes to the arena of money.
  • If we owe people, we need to make sure we are doing what we are supposed to do.

Romans 13:8 (AMP)"Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law."

  • Don't make unnecessary bills — handle your business, get out and stay out.
  • Stay away from credit cards.
  • Stay away from loans and interest.
  • Stay away from borrowing.

Romans 13:8 (MSG)"Don't run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe each other."

  • Be wise with your money, have discipline, and put limits on your spending.
  • Let no debt remain outstanding; as believers we should be meeting all financial obligations.

Psalm 37:21 (ESV)"The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives."

  • We have to do right when it comes to money and paying bills.
  • When we don't pay back it can seem dishonest — we are growing and learning.
  • Make budget sheets.
  • Write down what you owe.
  • Listen to the Holy Spirit.
  • Keep your credit good.
  • Be trustworthy.

2. Shift Your Mentality

Proverbs 22:7 (KJV)"The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender."

  • You want to be dependent on God, not people — not a servant to anyone but the Lord.
  • God wants to shift our mentality: we are supposed to be the head and not the tail.
  • Shift our mentality.
  • Shift our status.
  • Shift our perspective.
  • Shift our plans.

It is wise to avoid unnecessary debt and strive for financial independence.

3. Biblical Stewardship

Embrace the biblical principle of stewardship — managing resources wisely and living within your means to avoid the pitfalls of debt.

  • Work on your credit.
  • Pay bills consistently.
  • Don't try to live over your head.
  • Know who and what you owe.

4. Manage What You Have

  • Investments — be business minded; don't be limited to 40 hours.
  • Insurance — be covered for unexpected emergencies.
  • Income — we always need income; more coming in than going out.

Practical Tips

  • Listen to God.
  • Determine needs vs. wants.
  • Pay bills on time (avoid late fees).
  • Develop a relationship with your bank.
  • Maximize profits.
  • Track cash flow.
  • Build up your emergency fund.
  • Set financial goals.
  • Factor in the fun.

Life Application

  • Write down everything you owe and build a simple budget sheet this week.
  • Set one financial goal and one emergency-fund target.
  • Pay every bill on time this month — no late fees.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom before your next major purchase.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for wisdom over our finances. Shift our mentality, our status, our perspective, and our plans. Teach us to be faithful stewards of what You have placed in our hands, to owe no man anything, and to walk in the freedom and increase You have promised. Make us the head and not the tail. In Jesus' name, amen.
